Guest Design Peeks

Hello!

I thought today would be a great day to share some peeks of the really awesome kit I received from Scraptastic Club. Jessica asked me to be her Guest Designer for November (thank you Jessica!)

I used the Home Sweet Home main kit and Add-on. This Crate Paper--Farmhouse Collection was one of my must haves from CHA this last summer. I'm really glad I was lucky enough to get a full kit of it!

I created 4 layouts--2 double pages and 2 single pages. Here's my peeks! I will post the full pages very soon!

I love the splattered look of the pumpkin colored mist!

Hello!!!!!

Ok, I'll admit-I took the summer off of scrapbooking, blogging, etc. However that didn't stop me from buying scrap supplies, kits, or a new Canon Rebel (very excited about that purchase). I decided to put some of those kit to use and make something. Since the weather went from amazing fall days in to the 70' to a very windy day of low 50's in less than 2 days. I have chosen not to go outside today, so instead I spent some well deserved time in my scrapbook room. Here's a couple layouts I worked on.

July 4th layout

Hello! Remember me!?!?!??!

It's been 6 months since I scrapped a page last.

I recently started subbing to a kit club called Scrapbook Generations. It's a great club for page kits with sketches, but for me I felt I didn't get the creative outlet I crave for. So I let the sub to this morning. I do enjoy their sketch books and bought the entire set of 8. I have plenty of products at home to use up.

Here's our July 4th community parade. My daughter was in the parade this year because she joined the Central Wisconsin Children's Theater for the summer production of Footloose, which is on stage this weekend. She has an ensemble part and loves it...just LOVES it! She enjoys acting, singing and dancing. It also keeps mom and dad busy to, with costumes, driving, and just helping out. My kids are getting so big!

I hope to get back into the scrapping routine, I miss it so much. I won't be doing any DT work for a while since we are still in home remodeling mode, middle of summer, a busy work scheduled, etc, etc, etc.

Jeepers, really March 28 was my last blog post. Where has time gone? I'm still here, doing well.

The last couple months have been busy. We have done a lot of home remodeling, a little construction, lots of decorating and next is the roof shingling also adding on a porch, throw in a surgery back in April and recovery into the mix there and that was my last month and a half. It seems like April/May are busy months in the first place with graduations, Easter, school trips, communion parties, oh and a garage sale I'm working on for next weekend.

As for scrapbooking goes...I have been organizing and purging (for the garage sale this weekend), I joined Scrapbook Generations monthly kit club, I bought a silhouette (YIPPY!) and also joined the silhouette store with the monthly package deal.While I was in bed recovering I watched every single video on 2 pea's and learned a lot of fun stuff (ah hum...the need for a silhouette). Now you ask have I actually scrapbooked?...that would be a big fat NO. But that didn't stop me from buying, buying and buying. I found a new online store called My Scraps and More-they have awesome sales and all my favorite products. Then I bought a couple of those Scrapbook Generations sketch books.

Let's see what else, I have spend more time in the home improvement stores then I ever thought possible learning about all the cool things that can be done in your house. So fun! I have hung drywall, painted, watched my dh put all new lights in our house, watched my dh texture the drywall, stained modeling, learned everything about toilets that I never "needed" to know, picked out more paint sample then I ever thought possible of just 1 color, I asked my dh which one looks better and he says they are all the same...um, no honey, they aren't they are all different shades of tan. We are defiantly do-it-yourselvers!

So, tell me what you have been up to! What have I missed?

I promise to scrapbook soon...I have to now that I have a new fun toy to play with, not to mention a ton of new products!

My Little Shoebox Farewell Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Little Shoebox Blog farewell blog hop! I hope you are coming from the very talented Kathleen's blog, if not or if you just joining this randomly, go back to the My Little Shoebox Blog and hop with us. As you know this term of the My Little Shoebox is ending and soon a new design team will be picked. As you know (if you read my last post) this is also goodbye for me with the team. But before I go, I want to share some of my past work and memories with you.

I thought I'd do a top 10 collection of my favorites this past year. I feel these10 layouts represent me the most, using the style I'm most comfortable with, which I finally, after all this time, figured out exactly what my style is. I'm a full page theme type scrapper that match my picture colors to the scrapbook supplies I'm using on that layout. As I say that to you, you'll see what I mean as you view the next 10 layouts.

The love of a family...

Hello!

Today I'm sharing an altered project I put together for My Little Shoebox, using their Home Tweet Home collection....which is my favorite collection this release.

I used a 7 Gypsies wooden frame for the project. I held on to this frame for a while waiting for the right project idea to come to me and finally when MLS asked for an altered project I knew what I wanted to do!

I have a couple close-ups...

I hear the reveal is just around the corner for the new MLS design team. I can't wait to see the new team. I should probably tell you, I didn't reapply. I have decided to take a year off of design team scrapbooking. I will still scrap for myself. Instead of focusing on the art of it, I want to spend more time with 2 page layouts with lots of pictures and stories. I have started doing this the last couple months and really enjoyed it!

Hope you have a great evening! As I type this, it's snowing, sleeting, lightening, and thunderstorming with heavy winds...only in WI we can have crazy weather! I wonder when spring will get here?!?!?!?!

I just wanted to add one more thing...if you remember back in December I talked about using photoshop elements 9 for editing. Well I did it, I took Jessica Sprague's online class, learned a lot of great and helpful information. This layout was edited with photoshop. I learned to edit in Camera Raw and just love the way my photos turn out. I learned to edit my layouts and save for web so they look better. So far I have accomplished 2 of my scrapping goals!!!!

My Little Shoebox picture frame project

I had this old recipe stand that I was going to toss. It still was in great condition but the front had a picture that really didn't go with my home decor. So I flipped the pages around and altered it with some My Little Shoebox papers and embellishments and made a cute picture flip book for my daughter. She just loves it. Each 4x6 page protector is now filled with fun pictures of friends. Perfect for any girl!

I actually attached a picture of my daughter on the front cover once I gave it to her. Just for the sack of display here I thought I would leave it plain.

By adding some foam pop-dots by Therm O' Web the die-cuts and cardstock stickers really have some great dimension on the project. I have to give a shout out to Therm O' Web, they very generously donated a huge assortment of adhesives for the dt to use on our projects!

The Green Collection and a Design Team Call

I have 2 things to share today and 1 of them is really awesome...

First off, I'll share my layout from the Green Collection, I like multiple photo layouts so I tried a new arrangement and came up with this....and remember my motto for this year...keep it simple!

and now for the really awesome news...My Little Shoebox is having a design team call. Come on you know you want to submit. This company is the best and so fun to work for. Here's the details for the call (right from the MLS blog)

My Little Shoebox is looking for talented, motivated, responsible designers who have time
to commit to design layouts and projects each month with our products and promote our
products online and at their local stores. We haven't set a specific number of designers for our
team. We welcome international submissions.

We are looking for:

1. Enthusiastic, creative people that love My Little Shoebox and are able to do monthly
assignments such as layouts, projects, and cards with our products.
2. You must post your work on 2 different galleries plus the MLS galleries
3. You must be able to commit to a 12 months term, which will be from
April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012.
4. You must be at least 18 years of age.
5. You agree to release the rights of your designs to My Little Shoebox for display on the
company website, blog, and in company publications.
6. If needed, your designs may also be needed for display at trade shows.
7. In addition, as a design team member, you will be contributing twice per term to our
company newsletter and be required quarterly to make a photo or video highlighting a
technique for the blog.
8. You may be required to contribute to the company’s blog during your term.
9. International submissions welcome.
In return you will receive:
1. Packages filled with plenty of MLS products to design with.

My Little Shoebox's....Sunday Market.

Hello! It's time for another Sketch Challenge with My Little Shoebox. I used the Holly Jolly line for my layout.

SNOW FUN

For this layout I used a lot of the diecuts and cardstock stickers. This really makes scrapping super easy and coordinates very well!

This is a MLS cardstock sticker popped up with a foam tab

Gotta love those diecuts as a photomat. Super easy!

Playing with 2 page layouts

I have notice there's more and more focus on 2 page layouts. I seen them a lot in magazines. As you know I'm leaning more towards the story and the photos. I worked on these in November during a fall crop.

The first layout if using a Cosmo Cricket collection, which I won from facebook. The pictures were taken at Chucky Cheese about 5 years ago. For some reason I have always loved these photo's and really wanted to use them for a family layout.

For this one, I basically found 1 piece of paper that went perfect (which would be the stripped piece) and tried to match the rest up to that. It felt great to use up leftovers for once.

For some reason I'm really enjoying putting together 2 page layouts. When I start I usually tape the 2 background pieces of paper together and use that as the "12x24 canvas" for my layout.

Love Notes

Love Notes is a project I made for My Little Shoebox using the Harmony Line. This was a really fun project to make, it would be a cute gift too.

The cards are about 3.5 x 3.5, the perfect size a quick note to someone.

First layout of the year

Ahhh, a nice laid back day. First day of the year, first layout of the year. Simple and easy, just like I said I was going to do using my must have chipboard pieces, a little sewing and pattern paper. Sure I could have done more, added more stuff, but I no longer feel the need to. I just have to please Kaden and that little boy is easy to please, he's going to love this layout when he see's it because it's about him-doing what he loves.

This kit is from Sweet Peach Crop Shop (December kit) Definitely going to be a favorite kit of mine with all the fun camping/outdoor stuff in it.

Now to work on those photography/editing skills. I signed up for Jessica Sprague's online class called Good-to-Great Workflow yesterday. Photoshop Elements 9 has been installed on the computer and ready to go. I hope in exactly one year I can say I have learned and mastered the art of editing pictures and layouts. Ok, probably not mastered but learned something educational :)

Reflection on the year

Happy New Year's Eve!!!

I spent sometime this week going through my layouts-computer pictures and the actual layouts. I spent a lot of time this year thinking about scrapbooking. I had many amazing opportunities, which I'm so grateful for.
Which is were many of these layouts originated from. I took some time and pulled about a dozen or so of my favorite layouts and the reason behind them to share with you.

1. I think this is absolute favorite. The reason is, it's fun, free. I did what I wanted to do, if I felt like a little misting, I misted, there's a a little bit of doodling, little bit of stitching. I love that the title is in mixed fonts and colors.

2. This layout I did when I guest DT at Scraptastic Club and it was picked for publication. This really was a simple fast layout. I enjoyed the process of putting it together.

3. This layout was when I was with Creative Imaginations. I just loved the wood paper. The brown and pink are so pretty together.

4. Fall Beauties was just done last month for My Little Shoebox and PageMaps. I had to pay my 6 year old son in bubblegum to help me cut out all the leaves.

5. Here fishy, fishy, was a layout I did when I guest designed for Scraptastic Club. I enjoyed the fun process of this one.

6. & 7. Were done using a Pink Ninja kit. My 2 besties Deb and Cris and I had a great time with that kit. We all purchased the same kit and made are own creations. It was super fun! I would recommend doing that with some friends. These layouts seem to have a little edge to them, not my usual style but I love them!

8. This one I like because the pictures tell the story. I enjoyed the kit I used on this as well (which is a Studio Calico kit)

9. Made with My Little Shoebox products, Kaden just loves this layout and is always looking at it.

10. Another My Little Shoebox layout. This is the first layout of 2010 I did.

11. A layout from when I guest designed for Polka Dot Whimsy in the spring. Lots of fun colors on this layout.

12. This was a Polk Dot Whimsy kit as well. Just went together so easily.

ok, 1 more...

13. This was a layout I did when guest designing for Sweet Peach Crop Shop I really like the quilting patten I sewed together for the background. Love the fabric rolled flowers too. I think this was the first layout I tried those on this year...which I will say is the best and favorite technique I learned this year.

So, there you have it. My favorite top dozen layouts or so layouts of 2010.

This is what I learned I liked/dislikes this year...I could get by with chipboard sticker pieces (the ones that are all embellished) and lots of pattern paper. I can do without stamps and paint. Scrapbook kits make my life so much easier. No more muted/vintage colors for me. I love border punches...actually all punches. My Cricut broke and probably will never get a new one. I don't like making projects-only layouts. I love trims and buttons even if they don't make it to a layout, I just like them.. It takes me more time to make a card than a layout. I {heart}colored mists...Maya Road and Mister Huey's. Fabric stitched brads are awesome. I will never use another postbound album after I spend the last 2 months converting every album/layout into D-rings. Why did I buy the Chip art tool, it never came out of the package(s), yes there's an (s) involved with that statement. I have many types. My sewing machine is my favorite tool.Sketches are the best because they make me scrap a layout in an hour or two. I really have a hard time photographing my work, so I bought PhotoShop Elements to make them look better. I'm going to sell every mini book I have, I just don't like them and don't like to take the time to make them. I can't scrap without my Basic Grey magnetic mat. I don't have a clue how to use PhotoShop Elements. I should buy stock in Martha Stewart/EK Success punches because I think I will own them all soon.

So this is what I have planned in 2011...my layouts are going to be simpler. There will be more journaling on them and less art work. It's time to focus on the pictures and memories. I also planning on doing lots of purging and organizing. Most importantly I'm going to enjoy it and not get stressed out about techniques/products. I'm not going to worry about the perfect photo or making sure everything is in perfect chronological order. For my family album this year I'm going to do a month at a glance (2 page layouts). Using bits and pieces of daily life. I'm not buying any special kit (uh hum, like the Project 365 kit I never used). I'm not taking a picture a day (it just won't happen). It's going to be just using what I have and worry about what I don't when I make the layout at the end of the month. I think if I had to pick a word for myself it's SIMPLIFY. (and I'm not doing the pick a word for the year either, that again requires some type of project-I'm sure.) You know what they say...it is what it is and I'm starting to learn that's ok!

Cute as a Button

Hello!

Today, I'm sharing 2 layouts I did for My Little Shoebox. I used 1 line and made a "boy" layout and a "girl" layout. At first glance the Cute as a Button Collection does look very girly, because of all the cute colors and girly girl designs on them. But, don't let a first glance trick you....just turn the papers over and ta-da...different colors and patterns!

I tried to do an exact match to these 2 layouts so show you what I mean.

Holly Jolly Day at My Little Shoebox!

It's Day 9 of the My Little Shoebox Holly Jolly Days, and it's my turn to share!

If you are not familiar with the Holly Jolly Days, let me fill you in! My Little Shoebox has a wonderful new winter called Holly Jolly. It's cute and colorful!

I chose to make gift tags for my Holly Jolly project, let me share those with you:

Here's some close-ups of the tags...

One this one I used the cardstock stickers for the snowman and the Happy Holiday saying and the mini alpha's that say to and from.

The base for this one is a diecut tag, decorated with a diecut stripe, cardstock stickers and lots of stickles!

This on is my favorite! I used a chipboard tag as my base, the cardstock snowman is popped off the page with a pop-dot and topped off with a cute green ribbon. This tag already has a home placed on a Christmas package!

This one was really easy, I just cut piece of patter paper that had the details already printed on it, folded in half and finished off the inside (see below), it's already to be added at package!

These two below were made using the already made die-cut tag and just embellished them!

Here's another easy one, that was just cut from the pattern paper, folded in half and embellished

and one last one, use a diecut tag and embellished with a snowman cardstock sticker.

I wanted to keep these tags and easy to make. I know how crazy it gets around the holidays, but yet we feel the need to make handmade gifts. All you need it the Holly Jolly collection, stickles, pop-dots and ribbon and you are all set.

While I was making these, 2 of my kids joined in and made some really creative cards for friends and teachers.

Now, in the spirit of the Holidays, My Little Shoebox has something for you!

Page Maps Feature

Hello all,

I'm so excited to share a project I have been working on! My Little Shoebox teamed up with Becky Fleck's Page Maps Sketches. I was given this sketch:

and this is my layout using a fun mixture of lines from My Little Shoebox. I also added a few fabric buttons I purchased from Etsy (when I think of the seller, I'll update here)

For the leaves, I cut them out with a Cuttlebug, embossed them for added texture, Spritzed them with glimmer mist, inked the edges and to finished them off, crumpled them in my hands before placing them on the layout with pop-dots.

Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I thought it would be fitting to make a layout of what I'm most thankful for...that would be my family.

To make the flowers pop a bit more, I used some embroidery thread and buttons.

Check out the chipboard letters, I ran them right through the cuttlebug machine to give them a little extra texture! Here's a closer-up peek too.

Don't you just love that punch? You are probably asking what kind is it and where can I get it...right?!?!?!

Well, I got my at a local craft store (Michael's) and it's called Chinese Knot from EK Success. For the technique I used. first I punched a 12 inch strip and stitched it down the middle. It look ok, but just a bit flat. So I punched another 12 inch strip out, folded it in half and stitched it right down on the top of the other one. The punch is very versatile, you can even cut apart the pieces and make unique flowers or butterflies.

You probably noticed this is a mix of all the newest line from My Little Shoebox, they mesh so well together!

Dress Up Your My Little Shoebox Alpha's

Make your alpha's fit your unique style and coordinate with your page!

Almost every scrapbook page includes some type of title, journaling or alphabetical wording. My Little Shoebox has three wonderful alphabet styles. I'm going to focus on the chipboard alpha's and dress them up!

There are 100's of different mediums to use. I picked a handful that I thought most of us would have on hand already.

M-dry emboss them and make them stand out. (I ran mine through the cuttlebug)

Y-make them sparkly with Stickles

L-make them worth $10,000 with bling

I-flowers and rub-ons

T-brads and eyelets (you know you have 100's of these!)

T-micro beads give them nice texture

L-give them some age and distress them with sandpaper and ink

E-mica flakes-perfect for winter/snow pages

S-using the chipboard letter as a mask, spay with spray ink

H-make them original and doodle on them

O-embellish with stickpins and flowers

E-glossy accents will make them super shinny

B-play up the font, remove the top layer and dress it with glimmer mist or paint

O-ribbons and bow-oh' so pretty!

X-outline with a pen

A-heat emboss (image is from a MLS stamp)

L-stamp an image (image is from a MLS stamp)

P-pattern paper will make them coordinate perfectly with your page

H-magic mesh

A-journal on them

S-fill in the negative area with Stickles, glitter or micro beads

After working with one of the new paper lines by My Little Shoebox called Cute as a Button I came up with this layout entitled:

It seems like I haven't update in a while. I don't have anything in full reveal but, I have been working on a lot of layouts. Since I can't exactly share full picture, I can share the peeks of them :) These are just a few of the projects I have been working on for My Little Shoebox.

Sharing my October GD layouts....

It's time to share my layouts I create using the October Sweet Peach Crop Shop, Sweet kit!

PUMPKIN PICKIN'

This kit had a lot of great patterns and colors, instead of using layers, I created a quilt type background. That way I was sure to get in a bit of each piece of paper and color without it being cluttered.

and a few close-ups of that layout...

Under the American Crafts flower, I gathered some of the fabric, which is included in the kit, to make the flower stand out of bit more. I had mist the fabric with some Maya Road mist to give it some extra color.

For these flowers, I really had fun making them, just a quick twist of fabric, some fabric glue and you have some easy, inexpensive flowers. I used some thin stripes of paper and wrapped them around a pencil to give it a little extra color.

ONE FINE DAY

Lots of fun colors!

adding a little piece of ribbon...sure adds something extra to a plain tag. Topped off with a rub-on.

I used lots of layers and stitching them together gives in a nice finished edge!

AROUND AND AROUND

The circles on the pattern paper where so fun, I knew I had to cut them out! It's hard to see, but the circle have a glittered center and really make the page sparkle---specially with the glittered brads and alphabet title.

To see the kit, please go to the store, I want to add that I used the add-on embellishment kit as well. I have to say...it is worth every penny and it's only $13.00! The products in it are are a perfect match for this kit and well, besides that they are my favorite products!

My Little Shoebox October Sketch...

It's that time again...get out your My Little Shoebox supplies, some cute pictures, use our sketch and get to work!

Here's my take on the sketch, I used the Simple Life line. I really enjoy this line because of the barn, little sheep, colors (love the colors!). Perfect match for my photos. My children were bottle feeding the calves at their uncles house. They really enjoyed doing that!

The Simple Life

Have you seen one of the newest collections from My Little Shoebox? It's called "The Simple Life!"

If you can't sleep...count sheep

The sheep are cardstock stickers, aren't they cute!

I added some pop-dots to make a couple of them pop off the page a bit.

This is fun punch I was fortunate to receive. It's called funky heart shape! You see Fiskars hooked with with My Little Shoebox in August and the design team got to use Fiskars punches with our work. A HUGE thank you goes out to Fiskars for their generosity!

You'll also notice lots of doodling, journaling and outing of the chipboard letters on my pages. Sakura had donated pens us in the past and once again I want to thank them. They have so many pen options available! There's a really cool pen (that I used everyone on every layout) it's called Clear Stardust...it's a MUST HAVE PEN!

DOWN ON THE FARM

Love the tractor! It's a sticker, I cut some extra tires out to give it some dimension--if you look close you'll see that Clear Stardust Sakura Pen I mentioned before.

The red pattern paper was cut with one the cool Fiskars border punches...Those a must have tool. I have many-but don't we all?!?!!?

To make the lines really pop, I used the white Souffle 3-D Opaque Ink pens, I'm telling you, these are the best pens!

More doodling with the pens right on top of the pattern paper to make certain areas pop a bit more. If you could see this in real life each and every sheep is sparkly because I used the star dust pen!

and a Card

I used the Fiskars punches on this card...can you see where??? The punch is called threading water I used it on the top and bottom.

Summer Breeze by My Little Shoebox

For my September My Little Shoebox creations I worked the the Summer Breeze Collection. Don't you think the colors very soft and calming? I do! and I'm lovin' the stickers!

With the soft,calming colors, I right away thought of was baby. Plus everywhere I go lately there's tiny lil' babies! We have had so many lil' blessings born this summer and fall. I had a mini book of onesies on hand made by Creative Imaginations.

Here are a couple close-ups. I know not the best pictures it was raining and raining and raining and then we got flooded-anyway long story...back to the project...

I used the chipboard letters and applied stickles over the top to make them shiney!

I know I posted this last week, but this was my other project using the Summer Breeze Collection. I just love the birdie stickers!

Hello!

My 3 children started school this week (such a happy time for mom!) I figured since the house was silent this morning I'd break out a recent kit from Scraptastic Club. This is is full of the new Crate Paper School Spirit line! I love the colors and fun elements. Oh and the paper, love the paper!

I had so many pictures from the first day of school I couldn't decided (ok actually, these photos are not even from the actual first day, the are from the day before school started when we meet the teacher and take our supplies in.) So really I still have the "official" first day of school pictures to scrap too...which is next. But, first I'd like to share...

Guest Designing at Scraptastic Club!

I had picked the My Minds Eye Alphabet Soup-boys kit! Boy, am I glad I did! It was a fun kit and very easy to use.

Using leftovers...

I have finished my August projects for for My Little Shoebox, except it will be a bit before I can share. I had some leftovers sitting on my desk and I just started playing. I cut some pattern paper to 3x5 and just kept adding stuff, I didn't think about what I was making and after 30 minutes I came up with 2 of these "embellished embellishment pieces." Plus is gave me a chance to play with the new stamps.

I stamped the sheep on the back of a MLS journaling card, used distress ink and splattered with Maya Road Mists. I love the "down home" feel you get with the burlap and fabrics.

I left some space for journaling and I can easily add this to my next layout.

and on this one same concept, just different "found pieces." I have a big bin of pieces of odds n' end. Its fun to dig through and see what may work for a project.

Alrighty...time for some fun! Get out your favorite My Little Shoebox supplies, use the awesome sketch (created my MLS very own Pamela Young!) and create! Guess what the winner get???? Here's my take on the sketch, I used one of the newest lines called "Green." This is one of favorite lines because of the cool snails, mushrooms, and especially the colors! I switched it around a little, but here you go...

Did you know My Little Shoebox had a new line just for winter?!?!?!?! Jeepers, I didn't even know. I guess I have been living under a rock. So I want you to know and you can tell your friends and they can tell the LSS owner to bring it in the store and then everyone will know and we can all "ohh" and "ahh" over everyone's pages. So make sure after you create you send it My Little Shoebox so they can see to!

I'm loving the cute snowman! I bet I can find a couple (hundred) winter photo's for some layouts since I live in snow country!

6 weeks later and I finally scrapped!

Hello Everyone!!!!

I woke up this morning dreaming of scrapbooking. I set aside an hour or so of "me" time so I could do some scrapbooking. I have to say it felt so good to cut paper, print pictures, find embellishments. As I mentioned my last layout was 6 weeks ago (maybe even longer.)

I give you.... (and surprise surprise I didn't even use a scrapbook kit, just odds and ends I put together. If you know me...this never happens!)

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I mixed a sheet of Basic Grey paper with October Afternoons-Road Map paper. Some Cosmo Cricket chipboard with Basic Grey chipboard. The alpha's are from October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket and I have no idea where the other ones are from. And I did something I never did before...I dropped splashes of silver Maya Road mist on my paper.

I just found out I have a box coming from My Little Shoebox this week. I'm so excited! Have you seen all of the new 6 lines? So cute! I'm so jealous of the girls that get to go to CHA, but with everything going on in the past month it was best for me to sit this one out. You better believe I will be at the next CHA in Chicago.

Tomorrow I'm heading to the Madison, WI zoo. I'm so excited and so are the kids.

Hope everyone is doing well, I missed you all and I want to thank you all for leaving such wonderful comments about my dad.

A week later...

It comes with a heavy heart that I have to post this...

Last Thursday my father passed away at age 58. A week later it still seems unreal. I have been so busy with funeral arrangements and a dinner at my house, I barely had time for myself.

The memorial service was Tuesday and a dinner for 70 to follow at my house. I'm so happy with the way everything went. Everything was perfect.

Here's the 5th NEW line from My Little Shoebox. OMGosh look at the barns, sheep, tractors. I think I might have to get a whole extra set just for my 6 year old Kaden. He loves tractors, barns, pick-up trucks, fences. and look at that scalloped paper....can I just say AWESOME!!!!!

I want to start cutting the barn out right now....

I see a field trip to a farm in my future! I'm super excited to use this line!!!!!

Have you seen the new My Little Shoebox lines? OMGosh, they are just the cutest!!! You'll notice a few changes to the lines...more patterns, a new scalloped square diecut, cardstock stickers, alphabets in mixed colors that coordinate with each of the lines, the font on the glazed alphabets has changed to a lower case, and STAMPS...yes I said stamps! How cool is that-to actually have stamps that match the papers.

I wanted to let everyone know I don't have anything to share and I won't for a while.

My dad is in the hospital fighting for his life.We recently moved him to a bigger, better hospital (which is an hour away) but he is in the critical care unit. About a week ago he got sick and one thing lead to another and another and another. Please pass on a prayer for him, prayers for the Dr's and nurses work to bring him out of a coma and to good health.

Start of a new class!

I decided after cutting back on a few DT's it was time I did something for myself. Honestly I have not scrapped for myself in what seems like years.

I'm so excited, I enrolled myself into Celine Navarro's online class. Love, love, love her style. It's time to break out and try new ideas. This is from Workshop 1 using her sketch and color combo! I guess it still looks like my style. Oh well, I like it...small steps I guess.

I finally used a kit I purchased (phew about time I get those babies out of the bags!) This one is the Noel Mignon kit.

The New Team for My Little Shoebox has ben announced....

Today's the day, the day I have been waiting for!

As you may or may know I have been with My Little Shoebox for little over a year, so when the new dt call went out last spring of course I resubmitted! I have been waiting and waiting and waiting until June for the new team to be announced.

To my surprise, last Monday I received a call (ok, around 10), but missed them all. I wasn't sure who it was and totally forgot about the MLS dt calls going out that day. I figured with that many calls it must be important so I pressed redial. I ended up connecting with Patti. She called to tell me I made the team and congratulations!! So super exciting...little ol' me calling all the way to California! It was so fun to talk with her. Well, there was another phone number, After I calmed myself down a bit, I thought what the heck and pressed redial and see where that one takes me...it was Erin Y.! Phew good thing I pressed redial or I would have missed the great news and talking to this wonderful sweet ladies. I have been so excited to share the news, I couldn't even tell my friends. Sorry friends, but I get to tell you now!!!!!!

My Last (and latest) BlueMoon layout....

Happy Monday!

Today I will share my last layout from the Fresh Escapes kit!

YOU MAKE ME SMILE

I used the really pretty teal Hambly screen print paper (the back side of it) and layered with another Hambly screen print-this time the silver doily. This really is a pretty simple layout to put together, most of the embellishment (flowers) were hand cut from the Pink Paislee papers. I flipped the petals and leaves out a bit for some texture on my page and topped each flower off with the Tim Holtz pewter liquid pearls, which is included in the kit! The butterflies are from K & Co, just peel and stick!

Here's more of the pewter liquid pearls being used, this time I tossed in some Martha Stewart glitter and micro beads on top of the wet liquid pearls and just let them dry.

and my title, I mixed up the coral color alpha's with a black alpha I had on hand. But I like the way 2 different fonts/colors look together.

We had such a blast with Basic Grey this week at BlueMoon, my regular Monday post will be featured today...Thursday!

This layout is from the Fresh Escape Kit. I used the lighter colors from the kit to really make my photos POP!

WISH MAKER

I started out with a backside of the Basic Grey paper and layered it with the Hambly Studio peacock feather transparency. I really like the way that came out. I did cut some from the middle of my layout to give my eye a landing spot somewhere on this layout.

And this is where it lands...right on the Pink Paislee Artisan Element Frame. A while back I bought myself the new ChipArt Tool by Melody Ross, GCD Studios. It works awesome on the Artisan Frames. I used the alphabet to punch the phrase, make a wish, and rubbed on some distress ink, used some brown Maya Road mist to get into the little nooks to make it stand out and rubbed the rest of. Very easy!

It's fun to see all the different elements come together on a page. I used the Ranger Liquid Pearls, Pink Paislee Cork Buttons, Prima Flower, K & Co Dragon Fly, the Artisan Rubber Frame

A Mini Book!!!!

One of my projects for the months was to make a mini album using this really cool, large sized (6x12), mini book from Punky Sprouts, along with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and the Just Add Butter line from My Little Shoebox.

My thought behind this book was to use recipes that my 10 year old daughter can make. I think she will love this book!

I actually took one of the canvas pages out of my book to make the canvas apron, which was misted with glimmer mist, glued on some lace ruffles and some polka dot ribbon.

Fresh Escapes...New BlueMoon kit!

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday!

Today I'm going to share my first layout from the Newest BlueMoon kit called Fresh Escapes. The colors are perfect with the different shades of greens, blues, oranges, with a touch of black and lovely accent color of coral.

This is my first layout from the kit...

if i could pick the best brother, I'd pick you

I did lots of layering with the different papers, coral trim, Pink Paislee clear border stickers. I ever stitched a bit on the blue paper.

I had fun making these flowers. I used the Pink Paislee Pleated Ribbons. With the green piece, I cut the length in half and sewed the ends together to make the pleated flower and topped it off the the Pink Paislee Cork Buttons. (which is one of favorite things that came out this past winter!) To finish off the flower, I used the gray pleated ribbon for a stem.

I used a different set of alpha that came in the kit, I think it's fun to mix up the font and font sizes. Which you can still do because there are not 1 but 2 sets of alpha's included in the kit!

I have been working with the new line from My Little Shoebox, called Just Add Butter.

As soon as I see the cupcakes I remembered some photos I took of my son making his own birthday/valentine's day cupcakes for school last year.

I wish I would have a closer shot of the top but it says...and they don't need aprons!

I applied some stickles with a paintbrush over the chipboard alpha's. The out lining is done with the Sakura Gel pens, that Sakura donated to us. They really stand out on paper, 3d too and go on like butta'.

You have to see this cute line, lots of cute cupcakes and yummy colors.

Speaking of cupcakes, I have a really cute Punky Sprouts mini book I'm going to share next time.

Recycle Your Mist Challenge at BlueMoon this Month!

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle- famous words by Bob the Builder. Let's do it! Sure anyone can recycle their weekly garbage, but have you recycled your scrapbooking mists?

Let's play a Recycled Mist Challenge -use your leftover misted ink.

Playing with paper, sticker, chipboard, tissue, paper towels, paper bags... that has been recycled from leftover mist as the main challenge. Using your Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Maya Road Mist, Smooch or own version made with re-inkers and a Ranger mini mister...

Here's how:
Spray your regular projects and keep the underneath layer to cut up or use whole. If you spray on a craft sheet, use the leftover mist on the craft sheet for your project.

Here's my take on the challenge...

I didn't know where this project was heading, I just started to spray my green scalloped cardstock. I put in on a piece of kraft paper for photographing results...but in the end, I ended up using it instead of tossing it. Now that's recycling!

I ended up with a cool masked look after spraying...

After looking at the piece of kraft paper, I liked that as my background paper instead of the green scalloped which I was going to use. My little tip here to use up this leftover mist is too...

add shading to your layout. Just grab a piece of paper towel and dip it in the mist and use a circular swirl motion over the edges of the layout. It gives the edges a finished shaded look. I think a dry stencil brush would give a cool look too.

I also recycled those circles I had misted last week in my attempt to make those "show boards"...remember those (you can read about it here in this post!) and used them on this layout. Those circles are the ones misted with the Maya Road Mists just incase you were wondering.

ok, back to the green scalloped circle. Since I decided to use the other piece as the background, I cut the green scalloped paper to represent one of those thinking or day dreaming bubbles. I used just leftover bits and pieces I had. Soo fun and my son loved the end result. Do you see the little cloud of smoke by the car...that was his idea. LOL!

All the pattern paper in this layout is the 6x6 Sassafras papers. Even though they are smaller, they still work well on large layouts. Don't limit yourself just because the papers are small. Those papers can be seen here!

I can't wait to see those Recycled mist layouts in the gallery. We have fun looking at the submissions each month. Post your entry anytime before June 19th in the BlueMoonGallery. Upload a 4x6 with 72 resolution - this works best. If you're having issues uploading it's usually because the image is too big/large a file. Resize it and you're off to the races. Don't worry I didn't take the day off, even though it's my birthday. I worked on a little project for myself this weekend. It's no secret I love mist..any mist...Tattered Angels, Maya Road, Shimmerz, Luminarte. This past week I was organizing and pulled out all my mist out from my drawer. To my surprise after looking each one over, I didn't have one duplicates...yet.But, I needed a way to organize them. Every time I would want to buy some mist online I have to haul piles of them up the stairs and set them up in front of the computer and then order.

My first thought was to spray pieces 3x3 square of paper, cut them out with a circle punch-label each color under it and make show boards. Great idea, but them I would have a pile of show boards. I don't have the room for them and 50 bottles of mist. Here's take 1 on that idea before I came up with a better idea...

don't worry, these will not go to waste, I'll find use for them!

On Saturday, I went to a craft store and found these small pre-punch tags really cheap. I sprayed each tag with a different color and grouped them by manufacture. I have Tattered Angles, Maya Road, Luminarte and Shimmerz.

I found it interested after spraying the tags and seeing the finished results. The way the colors looked and the way they sprayed out of the bottle.

These are the Maya Road Tags, they are rich in color and have a nice full coverage. I notice after they dried these were the only tags that stayed flat and didn't curl up.I have no idea why or the reason behind it, but thought it was cool.

These are the Tattered Angels tags...

Isn't it interesting to see the cool textures that come out of the Tattered Angles bottles. I guess that's were the "tattered" word comes from.

I'm glad I redid the tags and used the "tag and bookrings." They will be easier to carry up the step, to my computer so when I place my order at BlueMoon I can just site and look at my sample pieces.

Hello! Today I'm going to share my last layout from the BlueMoon's Man Scrapbooking Kit!

FALL OF 1946

As soon as a I seen the paper car graphic in the Graphic 45 paper, I knew exactly what photo I wanted to scrap. Meet Chet and Bev, my in-laws. They were married in the fall of 1946!

I used my paper punches on the 7 Gypsies Graffer Tape just to give a different look. This is the car I was talking about before. So cool!

The door is from the Teresa Collins WELCOME HOME paper. I embellished the handle with a vintage glass looking bead.

The BlueMoon Scrapbooking MAN kit!

Hello!!!

I'm still working with the BlueMoon Scrapbooking Man kit and having fun with it! Today I would like to share this layout called...

My Little Gentleman

Did you see the little tiny top hat I cut out of the paper and placed it on Kaden's head in the first picture? Just wanted to add a fun, unexpected element to the photo.

I mostly used the Graphic 45, A Proper Gentleman Papers. They always have the cool vintage items to cut out. On this close-up I used a piece of the paper as my title piece and inked the edges with some Tim Holtz Distress Inks.The clock is also cut out from the pattern paper and popped up with a pop-dot. Easy embellishment! The feather is included in the kit, it's from K & Company.

Here I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Canvas Border and edged with a 7 Gypsies Rubber Band which I cut and stretched to the length of my layout. You'll see lots of great texture here...canvas, rubber ban, paper, metal, embroidery thread and pattern paper. LOVE IT!

My Little Shoebox + Two Peas in a Bucket are teaming up to host a layout challenge just for you starting NSD weekend and running through the end of May. Our two peas community members & My Little Shoebox fans! Entering couldn't be easier - here's what you'll need to do :

*Create a layout of any theme and size using 85% My Little Shoebox Product.

*Upload your project to the gallery - don't forget to check the "my little shoebox + two peas layout contest" box under member challenges to be included in the challenge!

*Your layout should have at least FIVE tags associated with it.

*Your layout should have at least THREE related products associated with it. Please note that to associate a product to your project, it must be available in the Two Peas store.

*Projects must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. CST May 31, 2010 to be entered into the challenge.

*two peas + my little shoebox will select two winners who will each receive a package from my little shoebox valued at $100.

I would like to personally thank My Little Shoebox for their generosity. They always make sure we have more than enough supplies to work with each month and not only that...they product swap with other companies.

Love my Tapes sent each of us 6 packages of awesome adhesive tape to use with our MLS projects. I really like that the adhesive end has a build in cap! Please check out their site and guess what...The My Little Shoebox ladies will be featured on the Love My Tape blog very soon! Pick some of the tape next time you have the chance, I'm sure you are going to love it!

BlueMoon Monday!

It's time for a new kit at BlueMoon. This kit is a little different from the kits I have received in the past. It's definitely more manly in color and embellishments. There's some cool feathers, a "manly" looking alphabet, lots of cool papers from Graphic 45. A great blue and brown combo! This kit is perfect for that manly man in you life!

The first layout is called:

BECAUSE OF YOU

It seems like I mostly scrapbook my children, but my husband needs to have a page once in a while too! This hobby is about memories right!

you guessed it...poem time! I used the tiny type letters by Cosmo Cricket. Poems are a great way to fill up empty space.

The paper tape measure was cut out from the A Proper Gentleman Graphic 45 paper, they are lots of fun elements like the story tickets included in the kit. I made little patches because I wanted to incorporate some plaid into the layout because it matched my husbands shirt.

Did you catch the hand-stitching? Bazzill has these really cool products called Bazzill in Stitch'z Floss and Needles. The thread colors are in blue's and browns. Absolutely a perfect compliment to this kit!

The K & Company letters are fun. I cut them out and after gluing them down I felt they needed just a little bit of extra omph...so I applied a layer of Glossy Accents to the top of them, now they're shiny and have a little more dimension.

I had fun with the packaging from the Prima flowers, do you see the clear circle with the words on it. I backed them on a blue paper. They look very cool in person!

GIRLS CAN BUILD TOO

The cork board in the kit is really cool and easy to punch with paper punches.I'm not sure where Laura got the red clothes pins from, but I would like a dozen or them, they are fun!

A Kiss on the Chic Sneak Peeks....

The sneak are out for May's kits at A Kiss on the Chic! I had told Laura that this was probably my favorite kits from her. Love the colors, papers companies, embellishments. ( I worked with the kit that had Pink Pasilee 365 and Girls Paperie On Holiday Collection).

Thought I'd share a few sneaks of my layouts and the kits...yes I said kits (there are 2 this month). Remember to stock up because this May kit is going to it for a while. Laura will be away for the summer, so you will all have to wait until next fall for more!). The kits will reveal this Sunday, April 25 at 7 PST!

ok ready... Love, love, love the canvas banners in the kit. I used some Maya Road mist to color them. The colors of the paper rock!

For the bubbles, I actually used some packaging, cut it into circles and stitched around them.

Yes, that is corkboard you see. It cuts like butta' with paperpunches! Lots of fun texture in the kit with the tape measure ribbon, corkboard and jute string.
